New Year, New Traditions

Welcome to the new year of the Ethiopian calendar!

Or rather, that was yesterday, but it was so busy with such excitement that here I am posting today!

So we are now in the year 2009! A year that promises to be wonderful (if my last 2009 is anything to go by!)

This New Year was the first time for me to go to an Ethiopian’s house to celebrate. Lots of good food, cake (complete with “Melkam Addis Amet” written on it), and watching some Ethiopian Family Feud on the TV (note, the top three answers to what makes you cry are soap in your eyes, smoke, and onions; both teams won a sheep to take home). Thank you Medan and family for inviting me to your home!

So Happy New Year – it’s great to live in a place with so many new beginnings all the time!!
